The city of Louisville in Colorado may not be as famous as its Kentucky cousin, but it offers residents just as much of a down home feel, along with amenities of big city life in its access to nearby Boulder and Denver. Louisville got its start in August of 1877 when the Welch Mine opened. This was the first of many coal mines in the area to come, and the town of Louisville was originally incorporated in June of 1882. The residents of Louisville real estate worked for several different nearby mines, and their lives were consequently freer and more democratic than cities owned by mines.
